Just wanted to let you know about this community. As the creators described it "A Fandom Auction to help Haiti recover".

Unfortunately I'm not very creative, so won't be auctioning something off, but I am willing to bid on something to help Haiti, as I did try to donate somewhere else yesterday, and it kicked me out twice!

I know that lots of people on my f-list are fanfic writers (some very known writers!) and some are graphic makers, so I encourage you to help Haiti, in a fun way!

If you were asked to recommend one destination in your country to LiveJournal friends who had never been to your country before, what place would you choose, and why?

Writer's Block: So funny I forgot to laugh

If a friend cracks a corny joke, do you force yourself to laugh politely? What about if it's your boss or teacher? Do you get annoyed if someone else pretends to be amused?

I would laugh sincerely. I'm more the type of person who says "You did not just say that! LOL!" (yes, I do say LOL in RL). If a boss or teacher I would probably just smile politely since I don't know them very well. I do get annoyed if it's overly dramatic. Or just laugh at the person pretending being amused.

Wow, this got a little complicated. Oh, well, you know what I mean!

AND ZOMG!! In less than 24 hours I will be in Stocholm seeing Muse live! YAY!

If you're going on a long plane or road trip, what sort of reading materials do you bring along? Is it different from what you usually read? Will you watch a trashy movie or read a bad novel or magazines just to pass the time?

I bring a fantasy-book, a chick-lit-book, and I buy a magazine at the airport. I also try to load episodes of series I like, movies and music vids on my iPod. Sometimes even new music to listen to. It is not very different, though I would say that normally I only read chick-lit during summer. Oh, and very often, I bring an extra book just in case I finish the books.

This may seem like a lot, but I get bored easily. And this is appropiate for up to 3 hours. I wonder what I'll do on the stockholm train (7 hours) and on my way to Chile (about 24 hours)...

Skrivesperre: Concert mania

What band are you dying to see live in concert that you've never seen before? Would you travel to a different city or state just to see them?

View 2067 Answers

I'm dying to see: Hanson, the Script, Arctic Monkeys, Paolo Nutini. And probably a dozen more I can't think of right now.

Well, let's put it like this: I'm going to Stockholm to see Muse. Another COUNTRY. So the answer to the second question is HELL YES.

If you found a $100 at the library, would you pocket it or turn it in? What about at a diner or pub? Confess!

I would take it, then feel so guilty that I would return to give it back. xD

If you were to open your own theme restaurant, what would the theme be and how would you express it to the customers?

A HARRY POTTER-THEMES RESTAURANT! WITH ALL THE FOOD AND DRINKS MENTIONED IN THE BOOKS.

...that would be kind of cool, though.

Muse
I am beyond happy now. You have no idea.

Yesterday I pre-ordered the Resistance Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set.

Today I bought Concert tickets for Stockholm. The train tickets are bought, hostel is booked. I'm practically THERE. And I can't wait!!

If you have me on twitter, I'm sure you've noticed me moping around because I didn't get tickets for the Oslo-concert. I couldn't even listen to Muse without my stomach hurting.

Ahhhhhh! I'm so in FANGIRL-mode!! No way I'm gonna be able to sleep early tonight!

Oh Gosh, oh gosh, oh gosh. I'm gonna see Muse live(again)!!! Yay!!! Sooo happy!

If I die now, I would die the happiest person alive. You bet on it.

I can't help but to stare at my concert tickets. Then I turn my stare to the image of the Deluxe box set. And then back again.

Gaaaaah!! =D

Nearly Famous

PD-YAAAY!
This is a British mini-series. It's only six episodes long, and there's no series 2 *cry*.

It takes place in an imaginary London school of music, drama, writing, etc. There are four main characters: Owen, the musician, Kate, the actress, Lila, the writer and Joe the lighting-guy.

This is brilliant! I thought at first it wouldn't be too good, and that it couldn't possibly draw me in enough with only six episodes. Well, WRONG. The ending made me cry like a baby. No, wrong again, it made me WEEP. I had to bring out the heavy machinary: the kleenex. AND NO ONE DIES. I know. Weird, right?

In only six episodes it made me fall in love with all of the characters (Especially Owen).

If you liked the Oc, Moonlight, Bones, Instant Star, Skins(those are the ones I can think of, of the top of my head) you're going to like this. No, you're going to LOVE this. So go watch it!! *cough:tvshare:cough*

Oh, and did I mention yummy Aaron Johnson plays the character of Owen?

ETA: I even want to write fanfiction! THEN you know it's BAD! *goes crazy*

Writer's Block: Birthday Shout-out

PD-YAAAY!

Happy birthday, J.K. Rowling! Which of her seven Harry Potter novels do you think is the most satisfying read?

I have to say #7 for the same reasons [info]misseri44  did. It wrapped up the story nicely, and gave us all the answers we needed(Although one chapter too much...).

Usually my preferances would be in this order: 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 6. But after I read #6 again this year, a lot of stuff made more sense to me and moved up. Not sure how much, though, and still haven't had the time to ponder on it.

Anyways. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO J.K ROWLING AND HARRY POTTER!! 44 and 29, next year'll be big!

Oh, and btw, this is my 300th LJ post. Yay me?
P&P-Keira
...and I am in complete awe. Wow. So many powerful scenes there!

Gosh. So many feelings stirred up in my when I saw this. First of all, the feeling of... what a magnificent world Jo has managed to create. I am quite aware that this is not an actual feeling, but I still haven't got a proper way of describing it. Jo wrote this after having a very problematic life . I always knew that, but knowing the details, and having her explain it, was amazing. She never knew what she was creating. She never knew that this story would amaze so many people, and make people fall in love with the universe she created. And yet it did. To me that is an amazing thing. And that is exactly what I felt. I was happy for her. I was happy that she had gotten her fairytale ending.

Another thing that brought me to tears was part in the documentary where one can see the release of HP7. Her feelings, everyone's feelings just awed me. I just cannot imagine how she felt when she saw all the people anxiously awaiting the seventh and last book. And it completely touches me that so many people around the world where waiting to get their copy at the stroke of midnight. The countdown, and the moment she started reading the first words of her book. Gosh.

And the last thing that COMPLETELY brought me to tears was when she was taken back to her old flat where she finished the Philosopher's Stone, and she walks into her old bedroom and sees her own books on the book shelf. What a powerful moment right there.

I guess that several things made me so emotional. One of them is of course that I have been a Harry Potter-fan for as long as I can remember. I remember getting the three first books from my brother. I remember anxiously waiting for the translation of the fourth book. I remember buying the fifth book on the airport on the way to France. I don't remember buying the sixth book at all to be honest (my memory fails yet again!). But most of all I remember anxiously waiting for the seventh book at the midnight release party. So many memories.

Another thing that affected me was that I personally one day hope to be a published author, and her story gives me so much hope! And I cannot of course forget the fact that it truly hit me (For the third time only I might add) that there are not going to be any more Harry Potter-books. That saddens me of course.

Okay, I'll stop now. This was only intended to be a short recommendation. HAH!

If you are a Harry Potter-fan I HIGHLY recommend that you see this documentary called "J.K. Rowling - A Year in her Life". Actually no, I order you! x)

Writer's Block: Economizing

PD -*stressed out*

If you had to tighten your budget (or already have), what would be the easiest thing to cut?

View 501 Answers

I've already tightened my budget. A LOT. What's been easiest to cut, has been books (because I have around 70 books on my shelve that haven't been read and I am (nearly) always able to convince myself that I do not need more right now) and music (let's face it, there are "alternative" methods for getting new music).

What has been most difficult has been food(LOL) and concerts( I can't resist them, I simply can't).

If you were wondering, I'm saving money for a)Muse-concert (I still haven't got those damn tickets! But wait, just you wait, I WILL get them) b)White Lies-concert c)Chile (I'm going there at the end of the year and need money to SHOP!) and d)USA-trip in 2011(yes, it's gonna be helluva expensive seeing as we're gonna be there three weeks)

As you can see by my priorities, this is going to be a tough job. xD
